Schools Direct
Why train with us…
Rushall Primary School along with our Partnership School; Lindens Teaching School are a fully inclusive and creative partnership of three schools that enjoy a close affiliation with Wolverhampton University. The schools share a common set of values and principles, and a commitment to improving the learning of young people across our family of schools.
Our aim is to raise attainment by:
- improving the quality and consistency of teaching and learning,
- increasing aspirations for all learners, parents/carers and all those who work with our children,
- harnessing resources efficiently in the interests of learning,
- creating the right conditions and opportunities for enjoyable and effective learning.
Rushall Primary School, and our Partnership Schools, are able to offer effective ITT provision; all of the schools in our partnership have already successfully undertaken the Schools Direct process this year.
We value the professional learning of our staff and are committed to lifelong learning. Between us we have a rich and diverse range of expertise to cater for a wide range of pupils, including specialist knowledge in the area of SEN, which enables us to meet the needs of all pupils and provide professional learning to the next generation of teachers and leaders.
The training is centred at the Walsall Campus of Wolverhampton University with 120 days in school placements at our partnership schools.
You will have full access to the University of Wolverhampton, a dynamic facilitator of both innovative and traditional approaches to teacher training. Prior to each of your three teaching placements you will have two weeks intensive preparation at the University.
You will be part of a discrete group, sharing experiences and OUTSTANDING practices across our partnership schools. There will be extensive support delivered by outstanding practitioners. There will also be opportunities for group peer support and review.
As an Associate Teacher you will be in school from the first day of the school year so you will feel part of the team from day one.
You will be assigned mentors, leadership leads, from the staff of your base school who will be supported by a partnership Lead Learner with specific expertise in this area. These are outstanding practitioners with significant experience as mentors.
Rushall Primary School and our partnership schools prides itself on the quality of its provision and has been repeatedly recognised by Ofsted and other respected bodies.

Applicants with relevant industrial or commercial experience are very welcome to apply. You will need at least a grade C in GCSE English, Maths and Science.
What are we looking for…
We are looking for aspirational Associate Teachers who are passionate and enthusiastic about learning and have a desire to foster a thirst for learning in others.

There is an expectation that you will have 60 hours experience in an educational setting prior to the start of your course.
How we select …
Recruitment and selection will be a joint process between the Partnership Schools and Wolverhampton University. This will involve having to spend a day at one of the schools and may include a thirty minute observed activity leading a group of learners, two written activities for which further details will be provided and a panel interview. It is a rigorous and thorough process designed to get the best match of applicant to the places available and the school contexts.
